Brownfield Projects Always Have Hidden Layers — Best Tackled with Trusted Partners
After winning the tender for the supply of an ATAIRAC JC140 jaw crusher to a mining site in Kazakhstan, the Nord Minerals team got to work — diving into the smallest technical details.
The contract didn’t require us to inspect the site’s steel structures — but we did it anyway, and discovered that they needed to be reworked to accommodate the new equipment. We also found out that the customer’s crane had a maximum lifting capacity of 16 tons, while the crusher weighed 21.
To solve this, our engineers redesigned the support structure and developed a custom intermediate frame to ensure perfect alignment during installation — with no alterations needed on site.
We also reworked the crusher’s structure and planned the assembly directly on the foundation.
And then another challenge: during dismantling of the old crusher, serious damage was discovered in the existing foundation. Instead of one day, repairs would take three.
Still, we didn’t wait around. While the foundation was being repaired, our team used the time to pre-assemble every part of the crusher that the crane could handle — preparing for rapid installation the moment the site was ready.
The result?
The crusher was assembled on time. And more importantly, we delivered a complete solution.
The tender covered only the crusher supply. If the client had chosen another supplier, they likely would have received the machine in a warehouse — and only discovered the crane, structure, and foundation issues during installation.
At Nord Minerals, we partner with clients to solve problems before they appear.
We deliver certainty — not just equipment.
